Members of the WA Trotting Media Guild have labelled Luis Alberto, Gotta Go Gabbana, Simba Bromac and Art Keeper as good things at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
The West Australian’s Ernie Manning and GPTV’s Ken Casellas are keen on Luis Alberto.
“Luis Alberto is highly consistent and has shown in his past two races that he possesses the gate speed to hold up from gate one,” Manning said. “A winner at Gloucester Park three starts ago, he gets his chance to break back into the victors‘ list for the Hall stable.”
And Casellas agrees with his colleague.
“Luis Alberto failed to win a race from 15 starts as a two and three-year-old but has blossomed as a four-year-old this season, notching five wins and seven placings from 16 starts,” Casellas said. “He has drawn perfectly at barrier one on Friday night and is my best bet on the excellent 10-event card. He looks set to relish his favoured pacemaking role and should carry too many guns for Back To The Beach and Touch Of Success.”
Last year’s leading tipster Stuart Lowe believes Gotta Go Gabbana is poised to return to the winners’ list.
“My best bet is Gotta Go Gabbana,” Lowe said. “She did a power of work before finishing a close-up third at Pinjarra last start. Gets the good draw here and should lead and be hard to beat.”
Longshot king Pat Harding and The West Australian’s racing co-ordinator Ryan Havercroft are fans of the wonderfully consistent Simba Bromac.
“After a scintillating win last week, I think punters can cash in again with the Nathan Turvey-trained Simba Bromac,” Harding said. “He might be a bit short in the market but certainly looks the goods with Chris Lewis aboard.”
Havercroft is of the same mind.
“Simba Bromac has not missed a cheque in 16 WA starts, with 12 of those being wins,” Havercroft said. “I can see no reason why he won’t bring up number 13 this Friday when starting from barrier two. His main rival, El Jacko, starts from the outside of the nine-horse field.”
Guild president Wayne Currall is tipping Art Keeper to land an all-the-way victory on Friday night.
“Art Keeper has been very consistent since crossing the Nullarbor to join the strong Skye Bond team,” Currall said. “He finished a close fourth behind Tuas Delight last week at headquarters after working hard in the run. Should lead from the pole and whatever beats him will win.”
VALUE BETS
Ernie: Kasey John has been unplaced at his past six starts, but he should not be underrated from the pole. He has displayed considerable ability in three Gloucester Park wins.
Ken: For value, I suggest Dana Duke, who has drawn ideally at barrier two in the 1730m Ramsays Horse Transport Pace. Dana Duke has been unplaced at his past six starts, but he is an excellent frontrunner and is capable of a bold showing over the sprint trip.
Stuart: My value bet is Dana Duke. He impressed with a close sixth to BettorsFire here last start. Well drawn and dropping in class.
Pat: Nathan Turvey could score a good double when he gets aboard a horse he trains, Robert The Bruce. This is a wide-open event with little form on the board from any of the nine runners. However, it is over 2536 metres and Robert The Bruce is the one that appeals.
Ryan: Millview Sienna had been racing well prior to galloping last time out at Gloucester Park. Drawn in barrier one in a red-hot Breeders Stakes field this Friday. She is going to be handy enough to make a run into the placings at an each-way quote.
Wayne: Major Survivor did things wrong when he moved up strongly to issue a challenge to Bitcoin at Pinjarra last start. He’s drawn the pole against a strong field in the opening event but could find the front and prove hard to run down.
