Cups collector Our Jericho can add another to his swag on Friday night in the 2018 Portside Tavern UBET Kadina Pacing Cup (1609m).
Despite coming from a back row draw of gate eight, Our Jericho can still prove too strong for his rivals.
Already with the Gawler, Port Pirie and Victor Harbor Cups on the mantlepiece, the Les Harding-trained pacer has proved the best fast class pacer in South Australia this year.
Champion reinswoman Danielle Hill has the drive and is certain to drive him to advantage.
Already in the running line from his draw, Our Jericho is tough enough to do a bit of work over the last lap and still win.
As at Victor Harbor, his biggest danger could be Bettor Party, which finally has a good draw, starting from gate one.
Ken Rogers will get Bettor Party away quickly and he looks the likely leader and will be hard to run down.
At Victor Harbor, Our Jericho was good enough to sit outside Bettor Party, and win, in track record time, so it is reasonable to assume the same result is possible in the Kadina Cup.
The knockout horse is the Luke O’Neill-trained Lookofalegend.
With Ryan Hryhorec to drive, Lookofalegend is expected to sit back and hope the leaders go too hard and leave themselves sitting shots over the final 200 metres.
Rocknroll Baby is another Cups collector and looks suited to add the 2018 SA Square Trotters Association Kadina Trotters Cup (1609m).
The Greg Norman-trained Rocknroll Baby has five cup wins this year, beginning with the Gramel, then adding the Hambeltonian, Mount Gambier, Kapunda and Port Pirie.
At Victor Harbor she finished second to the Luke O’Neill-trained Truscott Law which is engaged again on Friday coming from gate five, with Danielle Hill to drive.
When Truscott Law won at Victor Harbor, the mare was able to lead off a front mark in the standing start event while Rocknroll Baby came off 20 metres.
On Friday, the pair come off equal marks with the event being a mobile start.
