Red October shapes as a star bet on Friday night’s 10-event card at Gloucester Park, according to three members of the WA Trotting Media Guild.

The West Australian’s Ernie Manning, Guild president Wayne Currall and The West Australian’s racing co-ordinator Ryan Havercroft have made the Gary Hall-trained horse as their best bet for the night.

Manning said Red October was poised to record his fifth win in a row.

“New Zealand import Red October was most impressive when he scored last start after facing the breeze at Gloucester Park,” Manning said. “Joining the Gary Hall stable following an Auckland win, he ran second in his WA debut last January. Two wins at GP and two at Pinjarra have resulted from his past four appearances. He appears a potential feature event winner.”

Currall and Havercroft agree.

Veteran tipster Bill Brindley is a fan of the Annie Belton-trained Gotta Go Gabbana.

“Tough mare Gotta Go Gabbana shapes up as a good bet in race two despite a wide draw,” Brindley said.

TABradio’s Matt Young is keen on Frostyflyer in the fourth event.

“Frostyflyer comes up with a good barrier draw and looks set to lead and run a big race here, expect him to go the journey,” Young said.

Longshot king Pat Harding believes punters should continue to support last-start winner Zennart.

“After another great win last week, I expect Zennart to repeat the dose in race three. Lauren Jones really has an affinity with this horse and I think Zennart can beat Vampiro and the stablemate Runrunjimmydunn.”

On-course announcer Ken Casellas is expecting a bold effort from Tuas Delight.

“Tuas Delight is racing first-up and is not yet in hard condition, but he makes good appeal off the front in the 2503m stand,” Casellas said. “This will be his first appearance in a stand (at his 12th start in Australia), but from barrier two he appeals as a likely pacemaker and he is my best bet. His two runs in stands in New Zealand resulted in third placings.”

Last season’s leading tipster Stuart Lowe has opted for Whozideawasthis as his best for the night.

“My best bet is Whozideaisthis, who resumes after a six-month absence,” Lowe said. “Had very consistent form last time in, including an all-the-way win here in 1.56.5 over 2100m. If he repeats that run, from the pole draw, he should be very hard to beat.”

VALUE BETS

Ernie: Bravo Tex seems capable of overcoming gate six and a class rise from the country circuit. He won stylishly at Pinjarra, then ran a close second after facing the breeze at Narrogin last Saturday night.

Wayne: Tactile Sensation came off 30m to win at Pinjarra at his last start. He should get out to a good price in a race where Tuas Delight will be short and could surprise at odds.

Ryan: Lady De La Renta has won her last two, both in three-year-old fillies company, but did beat the boys four starts back. Her draw in the Western Gateway makes her a good each-way proposition.

Bill: My value bet is the talented Campora in race six, following his good first-up fifth last week to Chicago Bull.

Matt: Infinite Symbol has the perfect draw and I think the filly can lead. Happy to be on her at each-way odds taking on the favourite who has drawn awkwardly.

Pat: Lady De La Renta for Annie Belton and Chris Voak should notch up her fourth win in five starts. Coming out of barrier one she is ideally placed in this event and should produce the goods for punters.

Ken: For value, I suggest Destined To Rule in the final event. He caught the eye at Pinjarra on Monday afternoon when he sustained a spirited three-wide burst from 11th at the bell to finish a meritorious fourth behind Ocean Ridge.

Stuart: My value bet is Frostyflyer, who has run on well to be third at last two runs here. Better drawn and should figure in the finish.
