Stallion For A Reason will be represented at the upcoming Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale.

THE leading breeders and studmasters in New South Wales and Victoria have thrown their support behind the 2018 Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale to be held on Sunday March 25 at the Bathurst Showground.

The first of 120 lots will go through the ring at 11am.

The Wagga-based Yirribee Pacing Stud has by the largest representation with 23 lots including five by exciting first crop sire Fly Like An Eagle and four by Caribbean Blaster, who has already left three winners from his initial two-year-old crop.

Brooklyn Lodge Stud, of Doug and Janet Moore, Aberdeen, has entered 17 youngsters by 12 different stallions. Their draft is headed up by a Modern Art full sister to the Queensland Paleface Adios Classic winner Copper Coast, a Rocknroll Dance half-sister to the Breeders Crown champion Magic Operative and a He’s Watching half-sister to the Breeders Crown 2YO winner Passions Promise.

Paul Carmody’s Lochend Stud, Maitland has a draft of 13, of which 10 are by the fast Artsplace import Shoobee’s Place, the sire of recent Penrith two-year-old winner Tsunami Charlie.

The eight-strong consignment of Golden Gait Stud, Canowindra includes For A Reason half-sisters to the NSW Sires Stakes 2YO champion Usane Flash and Group winner Soho Lennon.

Members of the Dumesny family will offer eight youngsters spearheaded by a Sunshine Beach colt out the $100,000 winner Gloria Lombo and an Art Major filly from a daughter of the Australian Broodmare of the Year Ark Maree.

Medowie Lodge, Mimosa Banks Stud and Redbank Lodge Standardbreds, all long-time supporters of the Bathurst sale, each have four entries, along with first-time vendors Alex Smith and Russell Woods, of Harrington Park.

The Gourley brothers, Brian and Graeme, head up a strong representation from ‘south of the border’. Graeme Gourley’s three entries include a He’s Watch filly from the Queen of the Pacific winner Artificial, while Brian’s draft is highlighted by a Changeover granddaughter of the Pink Bonnet winner Kirlian.

Other Victorian vendors are Neville Cranston’s Regal Farm (3 lots) and Colin and Lauretta Duncan, Robert Rothacker and Dunromin Standardbreds (Jane Hearn) with two apiece and Clinton and Joelene McSwain (1).
