Brighton trainer Mark Reggett had plenty of reasons to smile in Hobart on Friday night as his impressive five-year-old Dasher Houli stormed home to win the Roberts Sprint Lane Pace.
The Stonebridge Regal - Fake Madam gelding settled back third last over the 2090-metre journey with driver Mark Yole the first to make a move out three-wide approaching the bell.
Rohan Hillier, having already notched up a double in the opening two races with Ideal Bliss and Lord Stark, had already moved the $3.20 favourite Plata O Plomo to the death seat and was travelling well with a lap to run.
Yole looked to flush one out to give him a cart into the race at the 800-metre mark and it was Samantha Gangell who duly obliged with Rusty Red Comet.
Hillier threw down the gauntlet to the leader Wasonie Snake at the 400-metre mark and quickly assumed control while Dasher Houli continued to make ground out four-wide approaching the final turn.
Plata O Plomo darted clear on straightening but Dasher Houli was now in full flight and claimed the leader in the shadows of the post to bring up three wins on the trot, taking its seasons record to three wins from four starts.
The state's leading trainer Ben Yole prepared another winning treble to take his seasons tally to 62 and just on $470,000 in prize money with Long Ago, Liv Lavish and Franco Hammond all saluting the judge.
Rohan Hadley lifted Long Ago ($10) over the line to win the Green Electrical Pace from the popular pick Jaccka Len ($3.30) and then followed up with outsider Liv Lavish ($26) nosing out the stablemate Stylish Trend and the Todd Rattray-trained favourite Goggo Gee Gee in the Triple M Hobart Pace.
Trainer-driver Paul Williams continued his winning run with Debt Till We Part turning in the run of the night coming from last to win storming away from its rivals by 6.3-metres.
The victory brought up back-to-back Hobart wins for the Santastics Pan - Pepper For Sherryn three-year-old colt with an unplaced Carrick run behind Semowillrev last week splitting them.
Williams took Debt Till We Part back off the arm from outside the front-line and settled last, 10-metres from the second last horse.
Debt Till We Part latched onto the back of Karalta Demon out three wide at the 800-metre mark, midway between the back turns Paul knew it was now or never and hooked out four-wide in a bid to run down the leaders.
