SATURDAY night’s New South Wales Derby highlights the value of being part of the Ladbrokes Australian Pacing Gold ‘family’.

Five runners in the Blue Riband at Tabcorp Park Menangle are APG eligible, including the three heat winners.

Successful in last month’s Victoria Derby, Colt Thirty One proved he is on target for another Group One during his qualifier, while Poster Boy and Maraetai will also head into the decider with wins.

The trio will be joined by Ladbrokes APG purchases Major Times and Higherthananeagle.

Colt Thirty One has fared best in the pole, with Major Times drawn alongside the Queenslander in barrier two.

Poster Boy and Maraetai – Emma Stewart-trained stablemates of Major Times – will come from four and five, with Higherthananeagle receiving gate six.

Hopefully an omen for the quintet is Australian Pacing Gold has sponsored the time-honoured Classic.
