Harness Racing South Australia (HRSA) wishes to notify that the Kadina Harness Racing Club’s meeting set down for this coming Friday (26th January) at Port Pirie has been postponed, to a date to be set, due to the excessively hot weather forecast for the region on Friday 26th through to Sunday 28th January.

Additionally, the Globe Derby meeting scheduled for Saturday 27th January has been moved forward to Thursday 25th January and will be conducted as a night meeting.

To cater for horses who were planning to race at the Kadina Cup Meeting on Friday January 26, additional races have been added to the Globe Derby Park meetings on January 25 and 29.

The above decisions have been made, firstly from, advice received from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) who report that temperatures are expected to exceed 40 degrees for a prolonged period commencing Friday 25th,, and from consultation with both the Kadina and Globe Derby Park clubs.

Nominations close for Thursday’s Globe Derby meeting closing at 4:00pm today with Acceptances being at 9:00am tomorrow morning.

HRSA will continue to monitor the updated BOM forecasts for Globe Derby on Monday 31st January however indicative indications are that the temperatures will have decreased by this time.

The actions implemented are in accordance with HRSA’s Hot Weather Policy, which is designed to ensure the health and wellbeing of horses and participants is paramount.
