PROMISING filly La Machnificent has drawn to continue her perfect start to the season at Globe Derby tomorrow night.

Scoring first-up at the same venue last weekend, the daughter of Mach Three will begin from the pole against similar class opposition.

Pleased with the youngster’s progress, trainer Aaron Bain is confident La Machnificent can make the most of her starting position.

“She had a long, slow preparation to come up this time in and was ready to go last start,” Bain said. “The run has improved her and she will be better again on Saturday night.

“Her gate speed is not brilliant, but she can muster enough to lead. Her gate speed is something I’m hoping she can improve on as she gets older.”

Citing Bulletproof Boy as the main danger, Bain also rates The Deal as a big threat.

Second when first-up from a spell at Port Pirie last week, Bulletproof Boy will begin from barrier three.

Third at Globe Derby when returning from a break, The Deal has drawn four.

“Bulletproof was among the better two-year-olds last year and will no doubt be fitter for his run,” Bain said. “The Deal has been very consistent and is bound to go close again.”

Should La Machnificent improve as Bain’s believes she will, the South Australia Oaks in February will be the three-year-old’s major target this campaign.

“She has ticked every box so far, and if she continues to head in the right direction, I’ll be chasing the Oaks with her,” Bain said. “She is also Vicbred eligible, so I’ll look at a suitable heat with her further down the track.”
