Champion reinswoman Kerryn Manning is set to became the world’s “winningest” female horsewoman of all time this week as the 2016/17 season comes to an end.

Following her victory behind AMERETTO in the Group 2 Breeders Crown Graduate FFA last Friday night, Kerryn’s lifetime win tally reached 3,705, thereby equalling the total of retired Hall of Fame American jockey Julie Krone.

Kerryn is more than 1,500 wins clear of the next best harness racing driver – German, Rita Drees – and has piloted winners in Group One races in Europe (European Grand Circuit event, the Harley Davidson Trot in Norway with Knight Pistol), New Zealand (Arden Rooney in the New Zealand Cup) and Australia (26 Group One victories).

Julie Krone rode 3,704 winners in North America plus one at Doncaster (UK) in a career that saw her become the first female jockey to win a Triple Crown event (1993 Belmont Stakes – Colonial Affair) and the first woman inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.

Kerryn’s driving schedule could see her claim the global title as early as tonight at Terang behind MR MOJITO NZ (race 7 at 8.00pm AEST), with her other live chance at Geelong tomorrow night (Wednesday) behind MATATOKI NZ (race 10 at 9.30pm AEST).
