Queensland superstar ‘Slipnslide’ fought off challenges from ‘Rollercoaster Road’ (2nd) and ‘Be Good Johnny’ (3rd) to win back-to-back Garrard’s Queensland Pacing Championships that was postponed from Saturday night to Tuesday 24th October.

‘Slipnslide’ showed early speed to cross ‘Rollercoaster Road’ to lead and control the tempo running the first quarter of the mile in a casual 32.9. Then 31.6, 28.7 and 27.3. He recorded a gross time of 2:38.3 for the 2138 metres with a mile rate of 1:59.1.

Slipnslide’ is trained and driven by Luke McCarthy who has now claimed the Garrard’s Queensland Pacing Championship title for three consecutive years, driving ‘Cobbity Classic’ in 2004 and ‘Slipnslide’ in 2005 and 2006.

Owned by Luke McCarthy’s sister Jodie, ‘Slipnslide’ pressed a strong case for an invitation to the $500,000 Miracle Mile at Harold Park in just under a month’s time.

Team McCarthy will look for a clean sweep of the Sky Channel Spring Carnival at Albion Park this Saturday night in the final event, the $125,000 Watpac/Ariadne Trans-Tasman.

‘Slipnslide’ and ‘Be Good Johnny’ are expected to dominate the betting with Natalie Rasmussen electing not to nominate her Inter Dominion Champion ‘Blacks A Fake’ for this Saturday nights Group One event.
