New Inquiries –
- 12 January 2021 – Mr Wayne Friend - HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from The Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that heptaminol has been detected in the urine sample taken from SCARROLLER following its win in race 3, the SQUIRES SIGNS/TYREPOWER BLAYNEY PACE (1640 metres) conducted at Blayney on Sunday 8 November 2020. The “B” sample has been confirmed by Racing Analytical Services LTD (RASL) in Victoria.
- 12 January 2021 – Mr Paul Russo - HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from The Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Levamisole has been detected in the urine sample taken from MAGIC OATS NZ following its win in race 6, the WARDS ACCOUNTING CLAIMING PACE (1609 metres) conducted at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Tuesday 1 December 2020. The reserve portion and control solution will be sent for confirmation. Acting under the provisions of Australian Harness Racing Rule 183, HRNSW Stewards have suspended the Trainer’s licence of Mr Paul Russo.
Appeal Decision –
- 7 January 2021 – Mr Nathan Townsend appealed the decision of Stewards to suspend his licence for a period of 28 days following a breach of AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) when driving LADY PEBBLES in Race 5, COL FLETCHER FORD MAIDEN PACE (1660 metres) conducted at Parkes on Sunday 6 December 2020. By written notice on 1 January 2021, Mr Townsend made application to withdraw his appeal. By written decision on 7 January 2021, the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal granted leave for Mr Townsend to withdraw his appeal and the suspension of 28 days was ordered to take effect from midnight, 31 December 2020. - 25 January 2021 – Mr Rebecca Brown appealed the decision of Stewards to disqualify her licence for a period of 5 years for the presentation of GARGZDAI GIRL at Newcastle on 28 January 2017 with a prohibited substance namely Cobalt above the prescribed threshold. By decision of the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal the appeal was dismissed and the penalty confirmed. (appeal decision at www.hrnsw.com.au)
- 28 January 2021 – Mr Joshua Farrugia appealed the decision of Stewards to disqualify his licence for a period of 14 months for the presentation of ARE YOU WITH ME at Maitland on 28 December 2019 with a prohibited substance namely Total Carbon Dioxide above the prescribed threshold. By decision of the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal the appeal was dismissed and the penalty confirmed. (appeal decision at www.hrnsw.com.au)
