Thanks to some outstanding partnerships nationally and particularly in Queensland, APG now has a serious pot of gold ($350,000) in local prizemoney on offer for the graduates of this sale.

In addition, an incentive scheme for QBRED-eligible horses sees a first-win bonus set at $12,000 at any age, regardless of how many interstate wins they may have had.

A further $7,500 cash bonus is also on offer for their first Queensland win in a subsequent season, meaning the opportunities for investors in harness racing right now have never been better than in Queensland.

Selecting the right yearlings in this sale will be a very serious project for investors who love the sport of Harness Racing and are looking to bank some of the incredible riches on offer.

That said, in today’s review of the next three stallions, we can have some fun.

For the first time, we will see the progeny of The Great Bull Mattgregor step into a sales ring and go head-to-head with progeny of Hall of Fame champion Captaintreacherous and the 18-time Group winner Bling It On.

Bling It On (Lot 36)

Let’s kick things off with a look at Bling It On.

The expectations around the progeny of Bling It On has been quite serious and why wouldn’t it?

This is the horse that has six Group 1s, six Group 2s and six Group 3 wins to his name as well as the 2019 Victorian Cup trophy to boot.

A world record holder over 2240m in 2:35.2; (1:51.5 mile rate) and the titles of being crowned Australian 2YO and 3YO Pacer of the Year.

Bling It On is the Fastest and Richest Australasian-bred son of American Ideal.

Lot 36: Bling It On Ella Palms – Speed King

This filly is the half-sister to the wonderful Queensland mare Torque In Motion, winner of $380,203.

All of Speed King’s (Volomite line) top four broodmare credits have come from Meadow Line sires just like Bling It On.

The preparer is Margaret Donohoe and it’s a Lot we can’t wait to see.

Bull Mattgregor (Lots 11,24)

It’s a bit challenging writing about an unraced stallion and to be fair, Lots like 11 and 24 wouldn’t normally be accepted into the sale.

That’s of course until you see them - both stunning individuals from mares that are capable of bringing wins to the table.

To support this, Lot 11 is the half-sister of Jewel Of Peak, the current track record holder at Marburg over the 1850-metre trip.

Bull himself is from the outstanding U8 family and is a close relation the star Bettors Delight son, Bit Of A Legend winner of $2,667,957.

It’s our view these two fillies will find a home on the day and l really look forward to seeing them hit the track in 2022.

Captaintreacherous (3, 10A, 39)

In 2012, two-year-old Captaintreacherous won eight of his 10 starts and collected $918,253 in prizemoney.

Victories included the Metro Pace, Woodrow Wilson and Nassagaweya.

The leading money winning two-year-old Standardbred of 2012 was voted Dan Patch Pacer of the Year and Dan Patch and O’Brien Two-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year.

As a Three-year-old, Captaintreacherous earned $2,055,033 while winning 13 of 16 starts including the Breeders Crown, North America Cup, Meadowlands Pace, Hempt Memorial, Cane Pace, American-National, Tattersalls Pace and the Bluegrass.

He was voted 2013 Dan Patch Pacer of the Year and Three-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year, as well as being the leading money winning Standardbred of 2013.

There is no hotter stallion in the sport of harness racing right now than Captaintreacherous .

His 2YO & 3YOs had an outstanding year in North America and he won “the leading money winning sire for 3YOs” by the length of the straight (and a margin more than $1.7 million over the second-placed sire.)

While Captaintreacherous’ best earner so far has been Captain Crunch (a colt now at stud), the table below highlights how well his six leading fillies feature in his top 10 earners.

A truly stunning half-sister to Hes Sweet, the 2020 winner of the $104,000 Group 1, Albion Park For 2Y0 s.

Captainreacherous’ top earner Captain Crunch winner of $1,725,495 is from a mare sired by an Adios line (through Abercrombie) stallion, just like “Taylor” Lot 3.

The Captaintreacherous’ leading earner in Australia (so far) is a 1:54.9 filly Tough Tilly, also out of an Art Major mare.

This filly (Lot 3) is from the N77 family and its most famous close relation would be For A Reason.

He is the Richest Australian Bred son of Leading Sire Art Major and the winner of the Australian 3YO Pacer of the Year title.

Add that to his seven Group race victories, including the G1 Victoria Cup, and you have one serious horse.
