Harness Racing Manager – Pinjarra Harness Racing Club

Pinjarra Harness Racing Club is the largest country harness racing Club in WA; with 50 race meetings held on Mondays, year-round. 

The Committee seeks an energetic and innovative Harness Racing Manager responsible for day to day operations of the Club and to maximise its potential growth.  This is a hands on and diverse role which requires flexibility of working hours, including public holidays and weekends.

Experience in the horse racing industry is preferred but not essential for the right applicant.

 The Harness Racing Manager’s responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to;

·         All aspects of Club and Committee Governance

·         Making recommendations on the strategic direction of the Club and implementing strategies to achieve set goals

·         Promotion of the harness racing product

·         Primary liaison with Racing & Wagering Western Australia with regards to the Club’s racing needs and participants’ requirements

·         Engage strategies aimed at increasing on-course revenue

·         HR management of up to 30 staff

·         OH&S management

·         Infrastructure management; including capital projects and contractor management

·         Preparation of grant funding applications and acquittal reporting

·         Sound understanding of Financial budgeting and reporting; knowledge of MYOB is of benefit

·         Operational & Stock control, including the bar and catering functions of the Club

·         Stakeholder engagement including meeting the needs of racing industry participants, Club Members, sponsors and patrons

·         Race day coordination

The successful applicant must demonstrate;

·         Strong leadership skills and experience in managing teams effectively

·         Highly developed organisation skills

·         Excellent communication skills

·         Ability to build strong relationships with Members and guests through excellent customer service

·         High level of competency in use of Microsoft suite computer software, including MYOB Accounting Software

·         Responsible Service of Alcohol Liquor Licensing qualifications or willingness to gain this qualification

·         Provide First Aid Certification

·         Ability to provide National Police Clearance

·         Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the Club
