Due to the high temperature anticipated for Northam early next week, the race meeting scheduled for Northam Harness Racing Club on Tuesday 28th January will be transferred to Gloucester Park for that day.

The meeting will be run as “Northam at Gloucester Park.”

As race fields have been selected and published, no change will be made to the barrier draws and the race meeting will be run with seven (7) runners on the front line and five (5) runners on the second line.

Race distances will be changed to accommodate the Gloucester Park track standard race distances.

The safety and welfare of racing animals and industry participants is of paramount concern and RWWA has well established hot weather policies that ensure the proper management of extreme weather conditions.

Stewards will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and implement RWWA’s hot weather policies as required.

In addition to running races later in the afternoon, RWWA’s hot weather policy also includes limiting the time participants and animals are exposed to the sun – including shorter parade times and procedures designed to minimise exposure.
