Deputy Chairman of Stewards – Harness Racing SA
Harness Racing SA Ltd (HRSA) is responsible for the control, development and promotion of the South Australian harness racing industry. The Board of HRSA is strongly committed to the integrity function in South Australian harness racing.
HRSA Ltd is calling for applications for the position of Deputy Chairman of Stewards. The Deputy Chairman of Stewards will assist with overseeing the reputation and integrity of harness racing in South Australia. The successful applicant would work with and answer to the Chairman of Stewards who is responsible for the control of all racing activities at over 115 harness meetings per year.
The successful applicant will have –
- A strong understanding of the rules and racing policies of harness racing and the industry Code of Conduct gained over many years’ experience.
- Experienced in Chairing at race meetings and racing inquiries, assisting with investigations and capable of conducting Appeals.
- Possess an understanding of the principles of Administrative Law.
- Be able to effectively mediate between conflicting parties and handle conflict situations with authority.
- Proven leadership and mentoring ability.
- Experience in handicapping, drawing up fields & registrations would be advantageous.
