Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) is a statutory body whose role is to oversee all harness racing activity in Victoria. We are committed to developing a vibrant and sustainable harness racing industry which promotes participation, integrity and racing excellence and grow returns to all our stakeholders.  We run approximately 450 race meetings per year at 28 tracks throughout Victoria. 

The Opportunity

HRV has an exciting opportunity within the Flemington Head Office to join the finance team in the role of Finance Administration Team Leader in a full time or part time capacity.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will be responsible for managing the payroll and administration functions of the HRV Group.  The role manages and leads a team of 3 staff across the area of accounts and payroll.

The finance team supports all of the HRV Group entities and 14 Country Clubs that utilise HRV’s shared services.

You will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Lead and manage a team of 3 coordinators across accounts, payroll and administration
  • Oversee system improvements and support other change initiatives
  • Manage and monitor banking facilities & cash flow
  • Monitor and ensure correct entry of transactions into finance system
  • Preparation & reconciliation of Statutory Requirements
  • Manage insurance activities, Fleet management & Building maintenance
  • Oversee and approval of monthly & fortnightly payroll cycle
  • Perform strategic projects as required to provide appropriate financial direction for HRV

About You

As the successful candidate:

  • You will need to have previous experience managing and leading a payroll/accounts department
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting or Commerce
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of accounting principles and accounting procedures, forecasting and controlling, and their application in a business environment
  • Exposure to finance systems, Technology One, Concur and time management systems is preferred but not essential
  • A keen interest in working in the harness racing industry
