The current leader on the 2019 USTA 2YO sires table is American Ideal. A truly wonderful sire that has magnificent looks and a perfect nature to boot.

American Ideal’s Australian progeny have won more than 11 Million Dollars so far and when this is added to his New Zealand and North American totals, this international sire is fast approaching 100 Million Dollars in progeny earnings.

With Bling It On winner of $1,656,656 and Soho Tribeca on $1,103,854 leading the way here, it’s hard to imagine the six broodmares in foal to him currently entered in the APG NATIOANAL MIXED SALE won't spark some serious interest.

One of the exceptional mares in the sale (that has been joined to American Ideal) already has a $440,000 plus winner on the track, an interesting side note, it’s by a sire from American Ideal’s same U7 family. In the strongest line-up ever seen in a sale of this nature there is a select group of high performing mares with progeny that have sold in APG yearling sales for more than $100,000.

When we spoke to Matt Day (a leading APG yearling consignor) he went on to say “American Ideal’s offspring not only sell very well, they are an absolute pleasure to work with. I have two young daughters handling the yearlings, so it’s imperative we have yearlings by sires we can trust”

Matt is the breeder of Miss Halfpenny, an outstanding American Ideal filly that’s giving her owners L M Fitzpatrick, S M Wilson, G J Ross, and H Pau a fantastic harness racing experience. Miss Halfpenny has won $216,085 from just 20 starts and it looks like she has more many wins ahead of her.

It would be wrong of me not to mention Pelosi another American Ideal filly that has dominated some big 2YO’s this season. The Wayne Honan bred star now has an 8-6-1-0 record and with earnings of $254,236 she delivers in spades for her connections.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates on a sale that truly has the chance of uniting the harness racing community. For all enquiries contact deanb@apgold.com.au

A dominant dual hemisphere sire, the son of Western Ideal is a gun sire on both sides of the equator. With career earnings over $90,000 million, American Ideal is easily one of the ‘big boys’ in the stallion shed. He leaves precocious juvenile speed, blue riband 3yo performers and grand circuit performers – the complete package.
