Please note the following program changes for Redcliffe race meetings effective immediately:

A) The race condition for selected C-class races now read "Restricted to horses that have not won a race with a total stake worth more than $5,500 at Albion Park, Menangle or Melton at their last 4 starts."

This removes the reference to Redcliffe.

B) The race meetings under trial with field selection and barrier draw based on $L5 or Field Selection Points have been changed to the following class groups effective Redcliffe Thursday February 7:

  • C4 or better, no better than M0 with no Band assessment for horses that have not won more than $3,000 at their last 3 starts. (This replaces the no better than Band 4 race previously programmed)
  • C2 / C3 with Driver and Mare claims now available
  • C1 no claims
  • C0

Outside of these class groups a $2,000 to $5,000 Claiming race has been added and a trotting race has also been added to these race meetings to help achieve the maximum number of races at each meeting. The Claiming race and the Trot will be selected using the normal field selection method.

For the remainder of this trial we will concentrate on the Field Selection Points split and barrier draw.

Importantly all races will now be of $5,500 so no matter what division a horse is split into the race will be worth $5,500 thus all winners take a Career Penalty for a win.

To best analyse the benefits of these races we need the support from owners and trainers to enable multiple divisions and full fields.  Trainers are encouraged to seriously consider these races as options when trying to best place their horse to maximize their earning potential.
