BOOM pacer Turn It Up will enjoy a well-deserved spell before being set for another feature race campaign.

Successful in last night’s Waikato Flying Mile, the Australian Pacing Gold graduate will spend several weeks in a paddock before co-trainers Natalie Rasmussen and Mark Purdon aim him towards the Taylor Mile and New Zealand Messenger.

The Taylor Mile is scheduled to be conducted on April 26, with the New Zealand Messenger the following week.

“He will go for a good break now,” Purdon said. “He has come a long way in a short time and will benefit from a spell.

“We won’t be heading over to Sydney for the Chariots Of Fire with him and will work towards the Taylor and Messenger.

“After that he also has the Jewels which will round out his season.”

Driven by Purdon, Turn It Up enjoyed the run of the race behind the leader, Star Galleria, before being angled into the passing lane during the latter stages.

Unleashing a solid sprint, the son of Courage Under Fire scored by a length from the pacemaker.

Ashley Locaz – a stablemate of the winner – was two-and-a-half lengths away third in 1:54.5.

“He did very well again,” Purdon said. “He has come a long way in a search time, but is still learning what is about.

“Everything he has done so far has been on raw ability.”
