The old saying, “A good colt will always beat a good filly.” Well my friends, that was proven wrong back in May last year when star filly, Bubbles And Cheese beat the boys in the Golden Nursery.

Bubbles And Cheese went on to win the Southern Cross a month later.

So the theory, “A good colt will always beat a good filly” is thrown out the window. Want more proof, the best thoroughbred stayer in the modern era Makybe Diva, best sprinter Black Caviar, oh, and what about middle distance, a mare called Winx, all the ‘finer’ sex.

The point of this article, simple! Harness Racing South Australia will once again allow anyone with outstanding SAMOS Certificates to use them at the upcoming Allwood Stud SA Yearling Sale, towards purchasing a filly.

If you still have the $800 ones, you can use two of them to the value of $1600 or three $500 certificates up to the value of $1500 off the purchase price of any one of the 14 fillies that will go under the hammer at Magic Million complex on Sunday February 10.

Fillies offered are by sires such as, Art Major (leading 2yo sire last season), Auckland Reactor (sire of NZ champion 3yo Chase Auckland), Rocknroll Heaven, Million Dollar Cam (Little Brown Jug winner), Western Terror (sire of Baby Bling) and Pet Rock (leading first season sire last season on number of winners) A Rocknroll Dance (already a Group 1 sire) plus first season sires Gold Ace and Hurrikane Kingcole.

There are half-sisters to the Southern Cross winner, Fistfullofdollars, Breeders Crown 3YO Silver Big Gun Johnny out of WA Oaks winner Miss Holmes, APG Heat winner and fourth in the GR1 final, Single Tree Road.

So why not dust off those old SAMOS certificates, head to Magic Millions complex at Morphettville on Sunday February 10 and take home a nice filly, and don’t forget she will be eligible for the $100,000 “The Allwood” of 2020.

Catalogues are available from Globe Derby Park, Port Pirie, all other SA country tracks, Tabcorp Park Melton and Tabcorp Park Menangle or by calling HRSA on (08) 8285 2899.
