QLD - HRA Australian Handicapping Rule Amendments Approved

The recent Australian Handicapping Rule Amendments announced by Harness Racing Australia have been approved by Racing Queensland and will take effect from August 1.

Australian Handicapping Rule Amendments are below:

2.12 Definition - Graduation Race

A race with stakemoney of greater than $2,000 but not exceeding $4,500.

2.22 Definition - Stakemoney

The total Prizemoney specified in the published conditions of a race excluding GST when applicable which:

- includes float rebates, time incentives and unconditional bonuses (including cash and the retail value of vouchers, credit, goods and or services); and

- excludes trophies and conditional bonuses (including breeding scheme and Industry Association or Club Membership bonuses where a fee is applicable to be eligible for that bonus).

2.23 Standard race

A race with stakemoney greater than $4,500 but not exceeding the threshold for a Metropolitan race - see Rule 2.16

 

In Queensland to continue the current balance of Career Penalty and Graduation Penalty races the following amendments will be made to the prizemoney allocations effective August 1 to adhere to the new Australian Handicapping Rules whilst remaining in line with the 2018/19 RQ Prizemoney Budget:

Redcliffe

Races currently of $4450 (10 horse field limit) increased to $4600.

Races currently of $4540 (12 horse field limit) increased to $4690.

Races currently of $3450 (10 horse field limit) decreased to $3200.

Races currently of $3500 (12 horse field limit) decreased to $3290.

Albion Park

Races currently of $4540 (12 horse field limit) increased to $4690.

Races currently of $4630 (14 horse field limit) increased to $4780.

Races currently of $3500 (12 horse field limit) decreased to $3290.

Races currently of $3500 (14 horse field limit) decreased to $3380.

 

Effectively a horse to win a race with a total stake between $2,001 and $4,500 will take an "R" class penalty. (Effective August 1)

Horses that win a race with a total stake between $4,501 and $14,999 will take a Career class penalty. (Effective August 1)
