Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards provide notice to industry participants that following unanimous agreement from State Controlling Bodies and subsequent approval from the HRV Board the provisions of Australian Harness Racing Rule (AHRR) 44 and the HRV Change of Driving Tactics policy, which relate to the prior notification of a change in driving tactics have been removed from application as of Thursday 24 May 2018.
Therefore, as of 24 May 2018, Industry participants are no longer required to notify a change of driving tactics to HRV Stewards prior to a horse racing.
Despite the removal of AHRR 44, HRV Stewards advise that questioning of driving tactics within a race that may be considered unreasonable or unacceptable in accordance with AHRR 149(1) & (2) will continue to be a strong focus of the HRV Stewards, so as to ensure that horses are provided every opportunity to finish in their best possible placing, and thereby maintain public confidence in the Victorian Harness Racing Industry.
