Outcome of Appeal – Mr Christopher Massey
The South Australian Racing Appeals Tribunal today heard an appeal filed by Mr Christopher Massey with respect to a decision of the Stewards to disqualify him for a period of nine months following a conviction under Rule 190 (1) of the Rules of Harness Racing. The particulars being that on Monday 18th September 2017 Mr Massey presented GENUINE EXCUSE to race at Globe Derby Park and a that subsequent swab taken from the mare returned and adverse TC02 result.
While the breach of the rules was denied Mr Massey elected not to appeal the conviction but rather the appeal was restricted to penalty only.
The outcome of the appeal was that the Tribunal varied the nine months disqualification, whereby the final three months of the disqualification was stayed pending Mr Massey not breaching any similar rule following the activation of this disqualification which takes effect from Monday 26th February 2018.
