It’s with pride and honour as Chairman of the Sales Committee, to welcome you all to the inaugural Allwood Stud 2018 SA Yearling Sale, to be conducted February 11, 2018 at the Magic Millions Complex, Morphettville, SA.

HRSA identified a real need that more money was needed for owners of two, three and four year old horses both in South Australia and nationally.

Since our invitation to join forces with SA BOTRA to create Australia’s Greatest Value Race Series this has been our focal point from the beginning and will be for the years to come.

For the very first time in the history of the sport, South Australia will have its very own $100,000 Group One race for 2YO’s - The Allwood.

Clearly a mission this big can only work if we get total support from the harness racing community and to this point we have been staggered by the outstanding people that have come forward.

Bob & Marilyn Fowler who are devout harness racing fans and founders of Allwood Stud, the home of two very promising young sires, Fly Like An Eagle and Follow The Stars, have been supporting us from the very start.

The very difficult decision was made early that a quality list of yearlings for this sale would be restricted to just thirty five yearlings only. While this was hard on the many breeders that missed out we do believe it was the only call for our inaugural 2018 sale.

As you flick through the catalogue you will be pleased to see the leading sires are represented, including lots by American Ideal, Art Major, Courage Under Fire, Mach Three, Roll With Joe, Somebeachsomewhere and Western Terror.  With the other sires represented we are confident that any prospective purchasers will have a multitude of appealing lots to choose from.

It is with great pleasure that we can now announce, we have joined forces with the Shepparton Harness Racing Club, who are leading the way for country clubs all over the country on how to build a positive brand and how to develop the sport.

This association has established the Group 2, Harnessbred State Of Origin clash with a final worth more than $50,000 to be hosted in South Australia. This race series is for just the sixteen fillies from this sale and eighteen from Shepparton’s own sale. This very exciting concept and prestigious event will have two $10,000 heats, one to be hosted in Shepparton and the other in South Australia.

While I can confirm that our Group One Status (and the $100,000 in prizemoney for these yearlings) that are sold at the Allwood 2018 SA Sale have been formally approved HRA, we are still working on the status and the prizemoney for the 3YO series.

What l can say about the 3YO series is it will be very exciting and will have a high level of prizemoney that many owners will be chasing.

I would personally like to take this opportunity to invite / ask all harness racing fans and owners who have a passion and an interest in seeing our sport grow to come along and join us for this historic event on the February 11, 2018.

Please see the link to our online catalogue below.

Together we can build Australia’s Greatest Race Series.
