In what started out as a fun idea to find the fastest mare to race at Port Pirie for the 16/17 season, quickly turned into a hotly contested battle that captivated the interest of  an entire club right up to the very end.

Allwood Stud  provided a massive incentive for the mare that could post the fastest mile rate for the season by awarding the owners a service to the young gun sire, Follow The Stars (who was Australian and New Zealand 2YO of the year and rated as one of the best youngsters this country has ever produced).

The issue came for the club, that up until early June, three mares all sharing the same time:

However, along came Queen Of Sharkz, who claimed the much desired prize for her owners PL & RW Linke, AS Coventry and MF Meyers by recording a very good time of 1:55:9

This Four Starzzz Shark Filly is out of the N107 mare Paris Rainbow, some of the better performers from this family have been

The owners are very excited and thrilled to have received the service to Follow The Stars, While they have plans for Queen Of Sharkz to race this season, the mare is booked into the young stallion for an early joining at the start of the 18/19 season.

Golden Bambi who is a daughter of Badlands Hanover has set the mark for this season of 1:55.8 only two weeks ago and this very smart time could take some topping.

While it’s easy to understand why people get lost or concerned with the challenges our code has, there is great hope for the sport when l look at the way  community run clubs, just like Port Pirie just seem to do an amazing job.

Congratulations to this outstanding organising that has the sports best interests at heart.
