Ken Rogers is one of South Australia’s in-form drivers and is eagerly looking forward to taking part in Retro Night – harness racing’s return to Wayville.
Rogers, 30, is one of 12 drivers invited to take part in the Wayville meeting on Friday 27 October 2017.
“I had a drive around Wayville during the Royal Show,” Rogers said. “It was certainly something different around the smaller track with grandstands and people able to view races around the entire track.
“It should really be a spectacle, with a lot of atmosphere, and I’m thinking there will be plenty of moves during the races.”
Rogers was a late-starter to driving only starting in the 2010/2011 season and had an immediate impact finishing the season with 54 winners.
A freelance driver, Rogers has always been in the state’s top 10 drivers ever since and drove a career-best 81 winners in South Australia last season. All up, he has driven 373 winners for stakemoney of $1,270,000.
He has been the regular driver of South Australia’s four-year-old and older Horse of the Year Some Kinda Tactics which is trained by Jon Kingston-Mayne.
Rogers drove Some Kinda Tactics to wins in the Kadina and Whyalla Cups.
“He is the best horse I have driven,” Rogers said. “He is marvellous with great speed and also can do it tough.”
