The Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Integrity Department, during the months of August and September 2017, have conducted extra integrity measures at trial meetings throughout Victoria, including the following:
-
Collected human urine samples from harness racing drivers and trainers at the Geelong trials on 4 September 2017 and Tabcorp Park trials on 12 September 2017.
-
Conducted Preliminary Breath Testing (PBT) of drivers at the Cranbourne trials on 2 September 2017.
-
Collected blood and urine samples from horses at the Shepparton trials on 29 August 2017 and Tabcorp Park trials on 12 September 2017.
HRV will continue to undertake PBT and human sample testing of trainers and drivers, at both trial and race meetings, in order to ensure the sport of harness racing is conducted in a safe workplace.
HRV acknowledge the support of all trainers and drivers in providing their co-operation on this issue to ensure compliance.
