INDUSTRY NOTICE

Since the introduction of the South Australian Mare Owner’s Scheme (SAMOS) over 1200 breeding certificates have been issued with 335 redeemed so far.  The Board of Harness Racing SA respects the importance of mares racing and then subsequently breeding however acknowledges that the SAMOS Scheme has become complex and is often confusing to breeders and stud owners.  Therefore, the Board, at its meeting yesterday, resolved to cease issuing any new SAMOS certificates as of the 1st September 2017. Certificates issued before this date will continue to be honoured.

The Racing Committee and the Board are in the process of developing new initiatives to support breeding and mare’s racing in South Australia.
