Maryborough Harness Racing Club today finalised the funds transfer to Harness Racing South Australia for the proceeds of the raffle organised to aid the victims of the ravaging Bush Fires which inundated Pinery SA in November 2015.

All tickets for the raffle were sold and combined with donations $16,710 has been forwarded to assist the industry victims of the fire.

The raffle saw 4000 tickets sold in a little over two weeks, an incredible industry response.

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) also made a contribution of $3500.

Donations were also received from the Association of Country Harness Racing Clubs ($500) and from Harness Racing Australia ($200).

Valuable assistance was also received from Ron and Darren at Emerson Printing who, at short notice, developed and produced the raffle tickets at no charge.

Maryborough club secretary Les Chapman was thrilled with the response.

“Our club acknowledges the amazing assistance we received from Chelsea Munro and Toby Whitehead of Olympus Feeds, John Coffey at Alabar Farms, and Sulky Tack NZ, who provided the discounted Whiplash race sulky,” he said.

“Sincere thanks to Lance and Leilani Justice, and Dianne Giles, who drove the sale of tickets and finally the support of our industry who once again proved to be extremely generous for a worthwhile cause.”

Lance Justice said he was very pleased with the response from the industry and thanked everyone who helped run the raffle, those who donated prizes and money and those who purchased tickets.

“It was a great job and we really need to thank the Maryborough Harness Racing Club for their efforts, also Chelsea Munro from Olympus Feeds.
