Task: Maintain Nominated Driver

To enter a driver change, select the driver change button on the left of the screen. When you select this button, the driver change form appears.

Once a nomination has been entered into HaRVEY, the trainer may wish to change or enter a driver for the nomination. This form allows users to enter a new driver against the horse and race that they specify.

Horse Name	Drop Down List	The name of the horse nominated. List contains horses currently trained by the user.
Racecode	Text	The racecode the horse is nominated for. Must be a valid HRNSW race code.
Driver Client ID	Number	The client ID of the driver to drive the horse. Must be a valid ID and can be searched for using the Driver Search functionality. To specify unidentified driver, leave field blank.
Driver Search	Button	When a driver ID is not known, you can search for a currently registered driver.

Select the name of the horse from the drop down box on the form. Then enter the race code as published in the Harness Racer for the race you wish to change the driver. To complete the transaction, enter the client id of the driver you now wish to drive the horse.

As per the nomination form, the user can also search for a driver. When the driver is selected, the driver’s client ID is placed by the system into the driver change form.

To indicate an unspecified driver, leave the Driver ID field blank.

By selecting the driver from the driver search form, the appropriate driver client id is placed in the driver id field in the driver change form.

To accept the driver change, select the OK button. This request will perform the eligbility checks on the new driver.

On confirmation of the driver change the previously nominated driver is shown, along with the new driver the appropriate race. Eligibility checks (below) are performed and also indicated on this form.

To accept the driver change, click the OK button. If you do not want to accept the driver change, click a link to go to another page. This will mean that the driver change is not processed.

On accepting the confirmation, a driver change received form is shown to indicate that the change has been received by HRNSW.

Rules

Only horses that have the user registered as trainer can be modified.

Drivers must be nominated via HarnessWeb no later than 11.00am 2 days prior to the race.

Drivers must be licensed and have no:

suspensions

disqualifications

If the Driver of the Horse has not been nominated the user can enter this at a later time. The user may specify that the intended Driver will be a claiming junior. The following rules apply about claiming junior Drivers:-

junior Drivers are those that have not attained the age of 23 at the start of the Racing Season

a junior Driver cannot claim a concession in a country penalty race once he or she has had a total of 25 wins in a country penalty race (whilst claiming)

a junior Driver cannot claim a concession in a metro penalty race once he or she has had a total of 5 wins in a metro penalty race (whilst claiming)

if a junior Driver is nominated and is eligible to claim in a particular race, the system will automatically assume that the Driver is claiming (although this can be overridden on the advice of the Trainer or Driver). Eg. a C4 Horse in a C3/C4 race with an eligible junior will automatically race as a C3.

If a Driver change occurs and the original Driver was a claiming junior, the replacement Driver must also be a claiming junior.
