AHRC NATIONAL RECOGNITION AWARDS 

At Council’s recent Annual General Meeting last week in Brisbane, the following National Awards were given for achievement over a significant period of time.  

AHRC Distinguished Service Awards
Harness Racing Families

The Australian Harness Racing Council has initiated a program of national recognition for harness racing families in conjunction with AHRC Members. This initial group of awards reflects the important role and contribution families have made to our industry. Others will follow in the future however those honoured at this time are:

The McCarthy Family of Logan Village, Queensland
The Rattray Family of Longford, Tasmania
The Tindale Family of Serpentine, Western Australia 

AHRC Meritorious Service Award
Studmaster

Council also last year initiated a program of national recognition in conjunction with AHRC Members and the Australian Standardbred Breeders Association with an emphasis on Studmasters.  This Award to a Western Australian participant reflects the important role and contribution that this Studmaster has made in the Australian Breeding of the Standardbred Herd in that State. Others will follow in the future however George Tiller has been honoured at this time:

Mr G Tiller of Kellerberrin, Western Australia

AHRC Meritorious Service Award
Queensland Junior Harness Racing Association

Mr & Mrs B McKiernan of Redland Bay, Queensland 

Bill & Bev McKiernan have been honoured for their services in fostering through their tireless work the advancement of the Queensland Junior Harness Racing Association, particularly in South Eastern Queensland over a significant period of time.

I wish to personally congratulate the National Award recipients for their contribution to the Australian Harness Racing Industry.

AHRC Press Release 15th March 2005

At Council’s recent Mid Season General Meeting in Auckland, the following National Awards were given for outstanding achievement. Those honoured are: 

AHRC Meritorious Service Awards 

This National Award is for achievement, commendable effort, and diligence in administration in an industry role.

  • Dr Tom Rieusset, Gnangara, WA

 Joseph Coulter Media Meritorious Service Award

 This National Award is for long standing service to the industry in a media role.

  • Robert Cain, Gisborne, Vic
  • Peter Sweeney, Leeming, WA

Council congratulates all recipients of the above National Awards.
