HELMETS APPROVED BY HRA

Helmets submitted for approval must be certified to comply with at least one of the following Standards:

Manufacturers are also required to provide the following information prior to approval being granted:

  • Documentary proof of the certification of the specific helmet to one of the above 3 Standards by a known test agency
  • Written approval or alternate instructions for painting the helmet; and
  • External identification.

The following list contains the names of the only Helmets approved by Harness Racing Australia for use in Australian Harness Racing.  Contact details for the Australian Helmet Manufacturers / Importers are also included.

Please Note:

 1.  Prospective purchasers of new Helmets are advised to look carefully at all information on the inside of the Helmet. The Brand Name and Standard must coincide as above.  For practical purposes, the latest versions of the above-mentioned Standards are appropriate.

2.  Our recently concluded Review by Human Impact Engineering and extensive Samples Survey by State Controlling Body Stewarding Panels has concluded that the previously approved helmets are no longer in use.  These are described below:
